ABOUT MIA & MIMI
THE INSPIRATION
MIMI IWAMA
Mimi Iwama’s early life inspired The Height of Fearlessness.
Mimi was born in Kumamoto, Japan. She moved to the U.S. in 1959 to study at the School of International Service at American University in Washington, D.C. She has worked for local newspaper, radio and television outlets and in community development and public relations in California. She has four children.

MIA IWAMA HASTINGS
Mia Iwama Hastings is the author of The Height of Fearlessness, which is based on true events from her mother’s early life in Japan.
Born and raised in California, Mia has a B.A. in Classics Magna Cum Laude from Brown University and an M.A. in English from University College London. Mia is a marketing specialist. She lives in Surrey with her husband Richard.
